Who is riana hisako?
In a nutshell
I’m Riana Hisako, a keytarist+pianist based in Los Angeles (born+raised). Known for my undeniable stage presence, unexpected chops, and inescapable aesthetic, I have experience playing a diversity of genres, most notably rock, pop, and punk. I grew up playing classical piano from the age of 4 or 5, which lent me formidable technique, and a unique ear for interpreting any style thrown my way. I enjoy being versatile, and give every performance my all— whether it’s solo piano, an acoustic set, or a full band production, you can find me having a blast on any stage!
The classical pianist turned rockstar.

I grew up knowing that music was more than a hobby to me. Starting classical piano at age 5, working my way through the standard repertoire, I found myself enamored with music and all of its nuance. However, the classical world was brutal, and coming out of it was a bittersweet experience. I almost quit many, many times, but I just couldn’t give up on what I love to do. Perseverance is a virtue, and I’m thankful for the experience I had, regardless. Classical piano taught me how to be detail-oriented, provided me with unmatched technique, and a unique, elegant sense of musicality.

I was told I was no longer a classical pianist, but a modern keyboardist. I played in my first bands, became well-versed in several styles, and learned the ins and outs of the music industry. This is where I first combined my classical background with solo jazz piano arrangements, at the encouragement of my piano professor.

I accidentally became a rockstar in 2024 and haven’t looked back since. What started as a single bar gig for a friend (XNK), turned into formation of a band lineup. I began playing for Lina cooper shortly after, and am extremely thankful to have been a part of several projects and bands since. I’ve had the opportunity to play some of the most iconic venues in Los Angeles, such as the hotel cafe, the viper room, the whisky a go-go, and much more.

in spring 2026, I was fortunate enough to leave my day job and focus on my full time career as a musician. I started teaching music lessons to disabled kids, diversifying my gigs to include some tribute acts, and focus on my personal identity and brand as a musician. It has been a blessing to put all of my energy towards music, and this is just the beginning. I hope you’ll stay tuned for what’s to come 🩷
